For years, the Peter McKinnon x NOMATIC 35L Camera Bag has been at the top of my wish list. After countless hours of watching reviews and seeing it in action, I’m thrilled to finally say it’s in my hands!

First Impressions: Unboxing the Hype
Opening the box for the Peter McKinnon 35L was an experience in itself. From the moment I pulled it out, the quality was immediately apparent. Everything about this bag screams “premium.” The materials feel incredibly durable, the zippers are robust, and the overall construction gives you confidence that your valuable gear will be well-protected.
Key features that immediately stood out to me:
- Robust Build Quality: The weather-resistant materials and reinforced stitching are top-notch.
- Thoughtful Organization: NOMATIC and Peter McKinnon truly thought of everything. There’s a place for virtually every piece of gear, from lenses and camera bodies to drones, laptops, and all the small accessories.
- Customizable Interior: The innovative divider system allows for incredible flexibility, letting you configure the main compartment exactly how you need it.
- Magnetic Pockets: These are a game-changer for quick access to essentials like batteries, SD cards, or even your phone.
- Comfort: While I haven’t taken it on a long trek yet, the shoulder straps and back panel feel very comfortable and well-padded.
Designed for the Modern Creator
It’s clear this bag was designed by creators, for creators. Every pocket, every access point, and every strap seems to have a purpose rooted in real-world shooting scenarios. The quick side access is perfect for grabbing your camera without having to put the bag down, and the dedicated laptop and tablet sleeves ensure your editing tools are always safe and accessible.
Even the smaller details, like the external water bottle pocket and the secure tripod carry system, speak to a deep understanding of what photographers and videographers need when they’re out in the field.
What Fits Inside? (My Initial Thoughts)
While my full “what’s in my bag” setup will come in a later review, my initial tests show that this 35L capacity is incredibly versatile. It comfortably swallowed my mirrorless camera body, a couple of essential lenses, a drone, and all my chargers and cables with room to spare for personal items. The ability to expand the roll-top section also adds significant capacity for clothing or other non-camera essentials, making it an excellent option for travel.
Extra idea I am working on includes learning if my entire RED Komodo X kit fits inside this bag! Rather than lugging around a bulky box, this bag could be way more comfortable to carry.
My Verdict So Far…
The Peter McKinnon x NOMATIC 35L Camera Bag has exceeded my expectations right out of the box. It’s a beautifully designed, incredibly robust, and highly functional piece of gear that seems poised to become my go-to bag for all my photography and videography adventures.
